How articulate

I just saw a television ad for The Namesake DVD, which is being released next week.

The following critical blurbs were highlighted during the tv spot:
"Rich!"
"Colourful!"
"Sensual!"

:S

It's just a hop, skip and jump away from "Spicy!", "Exotic!" or just plain "CULTURAL!!!" Glad to know the studio really understands the movie they're pushing.

Indeed.

And are you going to write on The Darjeeling Limited? I am very curious regarding your thoughts on Wes Anderson's take on Indian culture... Glad you liked it though; I did too.

Hopefully I'll have a capsule review rundown up relatively soon, and Anderson's film is intended to be discussed in that post.

I have to say, I was dreading the worst kind of exoticization, but (with a few exceptions) they managed to avoid indulging in that kind of fawning simplification. I seem to be the only one who likes it though, at least in "real life". Glad you enjoyed it...

In any case, it's undeniably better than The Life Aquatic, that's for sure.

You must have been able to tolerate The Darjeeling Limited because it manages to be completely removed from the Indian landscape. I was really annoyed that he managed to make India look less like India and more like a Wes Anderson set.
