Reeeeeeaaaalllly hot. And his acting skills add yet another appeal.

Why did you hate Venus so much? I didn't think it bad at all, really. Just kinda slow in parts, and kinda pointless in others. But I found the story touching. I just saw it today...

...adam k.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13485604493059621307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19337329.post-65999423389169289682007-02-11T13:33:00.000-05:002007-02-11T13:33:00.000-05:00I haven't seen the entire movie (just the last 20 ...I haven't seen the entire movie (just the last 20 minutes or so on TV), but I think this is the movie that started my whole Ryan Gosling obsession. He is such a gifted actor.DLhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08145416792179912949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19337329.post-12510351487306662002007-02-07T14:35:00.000-05:002007-02-07T14:35:00.000-05:00Whoops, what I meant to say is that Half Nelson on...Whoops, what I meant to say is that Half Nelson on DVD hits stores next week.

So does Marie Antoinette. It's going to be an expensive week for me.Yaseen Alihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05908587347677660287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19337329.post-52329093451198648972007-02-07T12:51:00.000-05:002007-02-07T12:51:00.000-05:00Natalya - I plan on watching The Namesake at least...Natalya - I plan on watching The Namesake at least three more times when it opens next month. My friends/family have heard me rave about it for so long that I've committed to going with many of them.

Jesse - Half Nelson hits the stores next month, so plan accordingly. I was dragged to The Notebook twice in theatres, and Gosling/McAdams made it watchable. I'd even see it again just for them - now if only all tween romantic comedies/dramas could feature that kind of chemistry.

Nick - Actually, it's been a few years since I've seen The Believer (this post was written through memory and some help from YouTube), so I don't know what my opinion of the film is right now. I remember liking it well enough.

Monster House was a blast (I was tempted to give it a full "A", but will wait for viewing #2), and you can expect a review soon.

Only ten minutes into Venus, and I was exasperated, on the verge of clawing out my eyes. It was a big waste of my time and added nothing to my life.Yaseen Alihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05908587347677660287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19337329.post-31602027799184401812007-02-06T05:15:00.000-05:002007-02-06T05:15:00.000-05:00Three things makes me happy about the current stat...Three things makes me happy about the current state of your journal.

Un: Your citation of this intense, yet entirely nuanced, performance (I'm not such a big fan of the film, though).

Deux: Your rating for Monster House -- my favorite contemporary allegory for puberty.

Trois: Your nearly rock-bottom rating for Venus. I was previously alone in calling out it wretchedness. This relied more on the uninspired "Isn't it funny when old people curse?" shtick more than Mrs. Henderson Presents and Little Miss Sunshine.

Thanks for all the comfort.Nick M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12566330717380805279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19337329.post-28079769440905835852007-02-06T04:18:00.000-05:002007-02-06T04:18:00.000-05:00Nice pick--I haven't seen the film (or even Half N...Nice pick--I haven't seen the film (or even Half Nelson, tsk, tsk), but even as I was swooning with all the other prepubescent girls in the theater watching The Notebook, I could tell he was a really terrific actor. It's been good to see him garning some well-deserved attention this last year.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19337329.post-73077030668082959902007-02-05T20:15:00.000-05:002007-02-05T20:15:00.000-05:00Hey, I really wanted to go see The Namesake...the ...Hey, I really wanted to go see The Namesake...the trailer was making me teary.
